Implementing the 5S principles

In the quest for efficiency and effectiveness in our manufacturing processes, we have implemented the 5S methodology.

The 5 S’s, coming from 5 Japanese words, stand for SortSet in orderShine, Standardise, and Sustain. With these 5 steps, we have removed all excess and disturbing clutter resulting in a more effective workstation.

Avoid mistakes in the production

The methodology was originally developed to enhance productivity and quality, as well as to improve safety in the manufacturing sector. Nevertheless, it is now widely used across industries.

To name a few activities it entails:

  • Creating and keeping a clean workspace.
  • Making strategic systems for tool storage.
  • Informing and training staff in the procedures.

At our facilities in Singapore, the 5S principles have been successfully implemented.

After guidance and an audit from an external consultancy, we are now geared to do internal audits ourselves and continuously improve our assembly systems.
